According to the poll, 42 percent of Republicans and GOP-leaners said they would prefer to see DeSantis as the nominee, compared with 35 percent saying they would prefer Trump. Despite the favored numbers, DeSantis has not announced his presidential campaign. Trump has continued to take jabs at the Florida governor, including at a rally in Pennsylvania on November 5, where he pointed to a recent poll of the 2024 GOP field. "Let's see, there it is, Trump at 71. Ron DeSanctimonious at 10 percent." At a rally in Ohio on November 7, Alina Habba, a lawyer for the former president, said Trump is responsible for DeSantis's current standing in the Republican Party and reiterated that he shouldn't run for higher office.
