The BBC has reportedly decided the way forward for the reboot of 90s gameshow Gladiators, hosted by Bradley Walsh and his son Barney Walsh.

The gameshow came back with a bang earlier this yr with a recent line-up of Gladiator superstars including Hearth, Legend, and Phantom, who've confronted a brave set of contenders in the ultimate test of velocity, talent, stamina and power.

Having been off screens for more than a decade, the revival has been a scores success with a mean of 6 million tuning into the debut episode.

A total of eight.7 million additionally watched in its first seven days making it the most important entertainment launch for the BBC in seven years.

It's no shock, then, that it has been claimed that Gladiators has been commissioned for a second season by the BBC.

The broadcaster's boss Tim Davie in his speech on the Royal Television Society yesterday even alluded to the present's continuation.

He stated: 'It means that we'll, despite finances pressures, prioritise huge nationwide
occasions – from the Coronation, Eurovision, the Proms and Glastonbury, to the
Olympics and the Euros, or Strictly or Gladiators, Youngsters in Need and even that
great drama: Election Night time.'

When approached by Metro.co.uk about future collection of Gladiators, the BBC declined to comment.

While the BBC has but to verify extra Gladiators, a show source advised The Mirror: 'Everyone seems to be delighted that Gladiators has gained over a brand new era of fans. Are we prepared for a second outing? You guess we are.'

The subsequent instalment can be filmed through the faculty holidays in August at the Sheffield Area for the second time, the publication claims.

There are also rumours bosses are eyeing up a star spin-off with Bradley himself having starred in a starry edition of Gladiators in 1997.

Nevertheless, the reboot has not gone down with everybody with former Gladiators star Cobra claiming that Bradley and Barney usually are not the 'right fit' for the collection.

'I'll have to observe just a little more, however after initially seeing them, I'm unsure if was the proper match,' he stated.

Requested about his other thoughts on the reboot, Cobra, real name Michael Willson, added to The Daily Star: 'The outfits… They're actually unflattering and simply horrible really. I assumed they might have completed much more with them.'

Cobra isn't the only former Gladiator star to disclose their thoughts on the reboot, with the show's former presenter Ulrika Jonsson blasting one 'woke' change when the revival began.

Discussing the present on Lorraine, Ulrika admitted that whereas a preview for the brand new collection 'brought tears to my eyes' as she reminisced on the music and 'basic feel' one thing was missing.

'No cheerleaders!' she explained. 'I simply don't perceive it. I don't understand if it's some sort of wokery.'

The grand remaining of Gladiators will air on the BBC on Saturday.

Finlay Anderson, Wesley Male, Bronte Jones, and Marie-Louise Nicholson will compete to find out who shall be topped the last word gladiator.

Gladiators was initially broadcast from 1992 to 2000 on ITV before being resurrected by Sky between 2008 and 2009.

Gladiators will air next Saturday at 5.50pm on BBC One.
