'Not a good business move' blasts Walmart shopper after retailer reverses self-checkout switch calling it 'ridiculous' | 8Z45CU8 | 2024-04-28 17:08:01
A SELF-CHECKOUT change has caused shoppers to slam Walmart for taking the kiosks out of multiple stores.
After years of implementing the service, Walmart's motion to remove self-checkout from some of its locations has left shoppers outraged.
Walmart has decided to make a major change to some of its stores[/caption]Walmart announced last month that it was removing self-checkout from some of its locations to help improve customer satisfaction.
Spokesperson Brian Little spoke with Business Insider about the changes.
"We believe the change will improve the in-store shopping experience and give our associates the chance to provide more personalized and efficient service," he said.
However, many have voiced their issue with the decision.
"Lol This was not a good business move and a poor customer service practice in the first place," a customer wrote on Facebook.
"Self-checkouts should only be utilized when a customer only has less than 10 items.
"Expecting customers to stand in long lines, while some customers have a cart load of groceries and items, just to scan 1 or 2 items is ridiculous."
Others have echoed a similar sentiment, stating that removing the kiosks would slow the shopping process.
"They not going to hire more people they don't want to work and attitude nasty they going to put robots out," a shopper wrote.

"I actually like self-checkout because people [are] slow," another said.
Little revealed this was not a move that the company took lightly.
"The decision was based on several factors, including feedback from associates and customers, shopping patterns, and business needs in this area," Little said, per KSDK.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Walmart for comment.
ANGRY CUSTOMERS
A Walmart location in Cleveland, Ohio announced that it would be one of the stores that are removing self-checkout.
Those who frequent the store admit that this new change could be the reason they stopped visiting the location altogether.
"I am probably going to end up going to a different Walmart then because I don't like to have to wait down here," Lean Burchnell, a shopper at the Cleveland location, told ABC affiliate WEWS-TV.
"Especially with all the crime that's been going down here. It's very scary. It really is," she added.
Those who shop at the location had noted that the amount of crime that took place, often made them feel unsafe.
Another shopper believes that even with the change, they didn't think removing self-checkout would help the store.
"Last week we were standing in the doorway as some guy was getting tased for stealing a jacket and had his pockets fully loaded with everything he could grab, I was like, 'Whoa,'" said Cory Sheneman.
