A FRUSTRATED customer has called out JPMorgan Chase over claims their account was suddenly closed while traveling abroad.

They argued that the incident left them without access to money and in a serious bind before heading back to America.

"Chase Bank have closed my account again, while I'm out of the country," the U.S. resident fumed in a post to Facebook earlier this month.

It's unclear exactly where the JPMorgan Chase customer was traveling, as they never specified.

Still, they were supposedly able to contact the financial institution for further assistance after the allegedly abrupt account shutdown.

"I informed them that I was traveling and they said 'no problem,' but I'm cashless," the customer claimed.

"Next time I will bring my Bank of America card, no issues there."

They continued to claim that the customer service staff "were rude when I call the international numbers."

"The 188 numbers does not work."

After the ordeal was over, the Chase customer said they were left considering other banks for their future endeavors.

"Chase [Bank] you're losing a customer," they remarked.

"I'm closing my accounts when I get home."

Given their comments, it seems the customer also had other accounts with Chase, but they were also not accessible during the trip out of the country.

They were seemingly able to gain access to their money at some point again, whether that was from Chase unlocking an account or through other avenues.

The U.S. Sun has contacted Chase for an official comment on the customer's claims.

FRAUD PREVENTION

It's not particularly uncommon for a checking account to be frozen if a bank suspects there could be fraudulent purchases being made.

It's a security feature designed to protect account holders from their cash being stolen.

This is especially the case if American customers, who typically make purchases in similar areas at similar places, head overseas to travel and make their first few transactions.

The fraud department will often be alerted and it will seek confirmation from a customer if it was really them or not.

This is often done through an automated phone call or text, and the problem is quickly resolved.

Financial institutions like Chase will then reactivate the card instantaneously once its verified it was the customer's purchases and not a fraudster.
