Sports fans have leapt on what they think is a humiliating blunder by Shannon Sharpe in his announcement that he is temporarily stepping aside from ESPN duties. The 56-year-old Sharpe is facing a $50m rape lawsuit from an ex-girlfriend he first met when she was 19, while another woman has now told Daily Mail about her allegations of sexual assault. The sports analyst, a three-time Super Bowl winner as a player, denies the allegations and continued with his scheduled appearances on ESPN's First Take this week, before posting his statement on Thursday that he was temporarily stepping aside.
