Sophie Raworth anchored the BBC's coverage of the VE Day celebrations on Monday with her usual assurance, but, unbeknown to the viewers, she was suffering a private heartbreak. I hear that the presenter's father, Richard Raworth, had died just days earlier. 'It's terribly sad, but Sophie was the consummate professional, as always,' a colleague tells me.
