Sissy Spacek, 75, recently turned heads in a rare red carpet appearance. Spacek posed for theDie My Lovepremiere at the 78th annual Cannes Film Festival on May 17. For the event, Spacek opted to wear a black suit and glasses. She finished off the chic look with a sparkling clutch handbag. While on the red carpet, she posed with several of herDie My Lovecastmates, includingJennifer LawrenceandRobert Pattinson. Spacek has been in the film industry for over five decades. During a 2018 interview withGQ magazine, Spacek opened up about one of her earliest roles, Holly Sargis, in the 1973 film,Badlands. Spacek said she learned "a great deal about acting" from her co-star,Martin Sheen, who played Kit. "Because I hadn't really worked much before that. I didn't know what the rules were. I didn't know how to prepare for a character," continued Spacek. Spacek also shared her appreciation for the film and its director, Terrence Malick. "It was a real turning point to me because I understood after that how important the director is. It was kind of a yardstick that I went by. I thought, 'Okay, if I never make another film, this has been enough.' Because it was such a powerful experience," said the actress during the 2018 interview. Spacek also spoke about her iconic portrayal of Carrie White in the 1976 horror filmCarrie. She said she felt attuned to the character of Carrie while on the film's set. "I kind of stayed away from everybody. Felt alone. Wrote poetry in the attic. I really got into Carrie," said Spacek in the interview. She also noted that she was able to "pull details" about the character from Stephen King's 1974 novel,Carrie. "That was the first time I understood how important research is," said the actress.
