Getty Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet may only be 6 years old and 4 years old, respectively, but their parents Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are already teaching them the value of money and hard work. To help keep them grounded, the kids sell produce from their home garden at a farmer's market in Montecito, California, Meghan said in a June 17 podcast interview. Speaking on the "Aspire" podcast with Emma Grede, the As Ever founder shared why doing this with her kids is beneficial. In a recent podcast interview,Meghan Markleshared how she and husbandPrince Harryfind it very important to teach their kidsPrince ArchieandPrincess Lilibetabout money and privilege. To that end, at just 6 years old and 4 years old, Archie and Lilibet have weekend jobs to help keep them grounded and learn the "value of things," the Duchess of Sussex shared inthe June 17 episodeof Emma Grede's "Aspire" podcast. Meghan told Grede that Archie and Lilibet help sell produce from the garden of the Sussex family's Montecito, California home at the local farmer's market on the weekends. "We grow a lot of veggies," Meghan said. "We sometimes do a little farmer's market stand." "There's a cost and a price for things, and I think that's key for children to understand, especially children who are very lucky to have a home that has privilege," she added. "You need to know that, just like manners and taking care of the things around you, there is a value on things." Of gardening in particular, Meghan continued that it is "really so great for children because it teaches them patience and teaches them to value and appreciate their food." Instagram/Meghan Markle The farmer's market is also a great chance to teach the kids about money, she said: "So you start from seed and you watch it grow, and they wait," Meghan told Grede. "But with that, it's like, now do you want to sell your harvest? And do you want to share it with our community? And also, what do you want to do with those funds once you have them?" In her Netflix seriesWith Love, Meghan, she shared that Archie and Lilibet even have their own equipment to help in the garden: "Our kids have real sets," Meghan said. "They take their gardening very seriously." "I think it's nice to give kids seeds that they can plant," she added. "Things that they can watch grow easily and pick from, like sugar snap peas and basil." Instagram/Meghan Markle Meghan drove home the importance of being around her kids while speaking with Grede in Tuesday's episode: "This is such a key age," she said. "I don't want to miss a moment fro my children, and I love that I can do dropoff and pickup at school and do meetings in between and go to Disneyland for two days, as we just did," she said, referencing a trip the family of four took earlier this month to celebrate Lilibet's fourth birthday on June 4. "And, you know, volunteer to serve hot lunch at school or be the chaperone for the kindergarten field trip." YouTube/Netflix Meghan also shared that she packs the kids' school lunches, which she said she loved to do "at the end of a long day. The kids are down to bed at, like, 7ish. I can go downstairs, have a glass of wine, [and] I'm doing their little lunch. I find joy in it for whatever reason, and it can be therapeutic. That, for me, is one of my simple pleasures."
