[Gary]'s battling prostate cancer, and apparently it's gotten worse and it spread." Ripa concluded that she and Consuelos "want to send our love." Her husband added, "Love you guys." He discussed Gary's diagnosis and how his health took a critical turn after battling pneumonia. "It didn't get better, it got worse, and it spread. It didn't go well for him," Seacrest explained. "I was on anAmerican Idolshow live during last season, and my sister called me and she said, 'Dad is in the ICU. How fast can you get here?' I finished the show. We were almost done. I didn't even remember what I was saying on the show." He further opened up that his father leaned on him when it came to a decision whether or not to have surgery. "I've never seen my strong, very smart father with the look on his face that he had, and the concern, looking at me to help guide the decision that should be made in this moment," the television host added. Seacrest cried, telling the audience about a photo he received ahead of his father's 81st birthday, where he was able to leave home and spend some time outside. The image showed Gary and his wife,Connie, as they looked at the water. "Last night, I got the most powerful, good, happy picture from my dad and my mother, who was with him, they went to a beach to sit outside, they just wanted to look a the water," he revealed.
