According to local police, the young girl—whose identity has remained private—wasnotcaught up in a rip current with her father off the coast of Playa Cocles in Limón, as previously reported byABC News, and instead, was allegedly on the beach playing with her dad before he headed into the water, according toPeople. He then left her out of the water, and he and a friend of his entered the sea," the outlet reports. "It was at that moment that they were swept away by the current, and the friend managed to get out," the statement continued. "However, Mr. Warner was unable to get out and was pulled out by several people on the beach. He received care from Red Cross officials, but was pronounced dead at the scene." Though the iconic actor and his wife—whose identity is also private—had been notoriously nonpublic with the details of their family, Warner had expressed love for his daughter plenty of times in the past. "You have absolutely no idea. A love so profound that even a poet can't find the words to describe it," heonce wrote of his only child. "Often I find myself just staring at her and wondering where she came from… I am proud that we have been able to provide a wonderful, loving, and spiritually enriching environment as a home base into which ALL babies should be born and thrive."
