But for starRenée Elise Goldsberry, it was personal. "I walked in and I just saw my family," the Tony-winning actress recalled during an intimate conversation with SiriusXM'sSmith Sisters Live. On June 8, the mastermind, writer and star ofHamilton,Lin-Manuel Miranda, made history by bringing the Broadway cast back on stage to mark the musical's 10th anniversary. Reflecting on the milestone, Goldsberry — who played the iconic socialite Angelica Schuyler — expressed her immense gratitude for being a part of the project. She toldSmith Sisters Livehosts Lauren Smith, Rachel Smith and Mariah Smith: "[It] makes me feel so grateful that I got to be alive in the world 10 years after this thing that changed my life." More than two dozen original cast members stepped away from their lives and current projects to relive the magic ofHamiltontogether,Leslie Odom Jr.,Daveed Diggs,Phillipa Soo,Jonathan GroffandAriana DeBosewere among those spotted on stage. "What we got to experience is that our medley performance at the Tonys seemed to be really enjoyed and celebrated by everyone," Goldsberry said. TheGirl5Evastar also shared a funny anecdote about returning to the beloved number, "Satisfied." "This music belongs more to the world than it belongs to us anyway at this point," she said. "I have to listen to the words of 'Satisfied' before I sing it every time because I don't wanna be up in front of an audience and people know it better and they sing the rap faster than me." In a bittersweet Instagram post the day before the performance, Goldsberryshared a carousel of behind-the-scenes photos with her castmates. Her caption read, "Spontaneous tears of joy keep bubbling up from my soul. I am just so happy." The experience exceeded all expectations. Wrote Goldsberry: "I had wild dreams about this reunion, and the reality so far is even better." Two days after the Tony Awards, Miranda took toInstagramwhere he opened up about his experience preparing for the reunion. Describing a months-long journey that began with an epiphany in the shower and gathering the original cast back together, Miranda expressed the excitement the process brought him. "The joy was indescribable," he said. "I always dreamed we'd all get back in the room together." He also reflected on how the reunion felt different this time around, "I never dreamed how much more fun it would be with nothing to prove and everything to celebrate."
