Check your freezer: Some Blue Bell Ice Cream is being recalled in more than a dozen states due to a potentially deadly reaction for some consumers, the Texas-based company announced. According to a release from the Food and Drug Administration,which posted the company's announcementas a public service on Friday, Aug. 22, a Blue Bell Creameries employee discovered incorrect packaging labels on some of the product "while restocking a retailer." Blue Bell is voluntarily recalling Moo-llennium Crunch Ice Cream half gallon packaged in a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough carton produced in its Brenham, Texas, plant because of undeclared almond, walnut and pecan. People allergic to almonds, walnuts and pecans or with sensitivity to nuts risk "a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction" if they eat the affected product, according to the announcement. Here's what to know about the recall. The recalled Moo-llennium Crunch half gallon ice cream is packaged in a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough half gallon carton with a Moo-llennium Crunch lid. The product lot code on the top of its lid reads: 061027524. An image of the affected product is below. According to Blue Bell's website, theMoo-llennium Crunchflavor contains "classic vanilla ice cream with a combination of dark chocolate chunks, creamy caramel chunks, roasted pecans, chopped almonds and walnut pieces." On the other hand,Chocolate Chip Cookie Doughcontains "chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough and chips of dark chocolate." The affected ice cream half gallons were distributed through retail outlets in these 16 states, according to the company and FDA. The announcement did not list the stores. As of the date of the recall, no illnesses or deaths had been reported, the FDA reported. Anyone who consumed the product and experienced adverse affects should contact a medical professional. Those who purchased the affected product may return it to its respected place of purchase for a refund, the company said.
