Tristan Rogers, the veteran actor who brought Robert Scorpio to life onGeneral Hospitalfor decades, has died at the age of 79. Tristan Rogers, the Australian-born actor who was a monster legend in daytime television, has passed away from lung cancer at the age of 79. He is most known for playing WSB super spy and hero Robert Scorpio onGeneral Hospital, a role he played on and off for 45 years, but also appeared onThe Bay,The Bold & the Beautiful,The Young & the Restless, andStudio City. In 2020, he won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Digital Drama Series for his portrayal of Doc onStudio City. His death was announced by his long-time manager,Meryl Soodak. He said the actor passed away at home on Friday morning and noting that he had never been a smoker. "He loved being Scorpio and he created that role from nothing. He was supposed to work a day and he ended up making it into something huge. He was just a genuinely loyal, kind human being and he loved his family." Soodak said. Rogers last appeared onGeneral Hospitalthis past summer for a short stint on the same day he announced his cancer diagnosis. GHExecutive Producer,Frank Valentini, paid tribute to Rogers on Twitter, saying, "The entire@GeneralHospitalfamily is heartbroken to hear of Tristan Rogers' passing. Tristan has captivated our fans for more than 50 years and Port Charles will not be the same without him (or Robert Scorpio). I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to his family and friends during this difficult time. Tristan was a one-of-a-kind talent and will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace." ABC ExecutiveNathan Varniposted, "Sad day, RIP to another#GHlegend. He will be sorely missed, what a loss." Rogers was born in Melbourne in 1946 and is survived by his wife of 30 years,Teresa Parkerson, two children, and a grandchild.
