Jon Bon Jovi is commemorating the loss of a dear friend.

On Wednesday, Oct. 29, legendary Philadelphia DJ Pierre Robert was found dead in his home at age 70, Beasley Media Group announced in a statement, per Inside Radio. After the news of his death broke, the Bon Jovi rocker paid tribute to him in a lengthy Instagram post.

"Today we lost a great friend. Someone who truly LOVED music. All types of music. Someone who loved musicians. Not just famous ones, or chart toppers. He admired local artists and tomorrows rising stars," Bon Jovi, 63, wrote, alongside two photos with the longtime 93.3 WMMR host.

"This man was as curious as he was clever, he was a real musicologist. He knew your influence and your influences. He was a loyal friend. He didn't care if you were the fad or the fashion of the moment. He just cared. And that mattered," he continued.

The "Livin' on a Prayer" singer then detailed how deeply the DJ — whom he referred to as "the loneliest man in showbiz" — cared about music, the people around him and making the world a better place.

"The DJ, someone who preached the gospel of the song to anyone who would listen.. this man was also very in touch with his humanity. His voice helped the hungry and the homeless, and he did it because he cared," he continued. "About you, about me, about making the world a little kinder wonder filled place to live.. his memory will live with us as it will with all of the people he touched."

Bon Jovi concluded, "In Philadelphia..he passed away in his sleep last night. The station was lucky to have him on the air. We were all lucky to have him as a guide to his musical galaxy And I was lucky to have him as a friend.. Thank you Pierre.. Godspeed, JBJ"

In a 2011 interview with Philadelphia magazine, Robert identified Bon Jovi as "the most famous person in my cell phone."

Per Inside Radio, Robert joined WMMR in 1981 and quickly forged a path in Philadelphia's music scene. He was known for his signature greeting, "Greetings Citizens," and hosted various beloved features over the decades including Noontime Workforce Blocks and Pierre's Vinyl Cut, as well as his "On This Day" history lessons.

In addition to his radio work, Robert supported charitable initiatives including the AIDS Walk, Manna's Pie in the Sky fundraiser and several other local causes.

According to the outlet, a cause of death has not been revealed, according to Inside Radio, but no foul play is suspected.

"We all have heavy hearts today," Beasley Media Group Chief Executive Officer Caroline Beasley said in a statement to the outlet. "Pierre's unwavering love for music and his deep connection with listeners made him one of radio's most enduring and beloved voices. He will be greatly missed."
