RENO, Nev. (AP) — Two of the three peoplekilled this weekin a shooting outside the largest casino inReno, Nevada, were 23-year-old men in town celebrating a bachelor party and the third victim was a 66-year-old man who lived in the area, authorities said. The suspect, who is in critical condition after being shot by police, was identified Tuesday as Dakota Hawver, a 26-year-old Reno resident. Investigators have found no connections between Hawver and the Grand Sierra Resort or any of the victims, according to police in the neighboring town of Sparks who are leading the investigation. They said the motive is still unknown. Two other people wounded in Monday's shooting remained hospitalized but were expected to make a full recovery, police said in a statement Tuesday. Justin Aguila and Andrew Canepa, both 23 years old and from Southern California, were fatally shot from behind while waiting in the casino's valet area for a ride to the airport, officials said. They had been visiting with a group of friends for a bachelor party. Angel Martinez, a 66-year-old Reno resident, was driving his car through the parking lot when he was shot and killed by the suspect, who had been hiding behind a parked vehicle, police said. Investigators determined Hawver used multiple magazines and fired approximately 80 rounds from a 9mm handgun that he had legally purchased two years ago. He has no criminal record and no history of mental health problems, officials said Tuesday. The investigation is ongoing. The shooting occurred around 7:30 a.m. Monday, when the gunman walked up to the valet area, pulled out the gun and pointed it at a group of people, police said. His weapon initially malfunctioned, but he was quickly able to get it to shoot multiple times before running through the parking lot, where he encountered an armed casino security guard. The gunman opened fire on the guard, who returned fire as the shooter fled again before being shot by police and arrested, police said Monday. In addition to those who were killed and the people taken to the hospital, three others were treated for minor injuries at the casino, according to Devon Reese, chair of the Board of Health in northern Nevada. One person was grazed by a bullet on their pinky finger, one was treated for severe anxiety and one was injured while running, he said Monday. The Grand Sierra Resort, one of Reno'smost prominent venues, has hosted concerts, sporting events and a campaign rally by PresidentDonald Trumpbefore the 2024 election. Near the California border and just northeast of Lake Tahoe, the town is a popular summer tourist destination. The resort claims to have the biggest casino floor in northern Nevada and sits just a few blocks from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. It's also one of the tallest buildings in the city, with nearly 2,000 hotel rooms.

TheNational Park Service(NPS) said in a news release that the incident happened on the morning of Monday, July 28, in the vicinity of Lone Star Geyser near Old Faithful. According to authorities, the teen was hiking in the thermal area when his foot broke through a thin crust, resulting in the burns. "Emergency medical staff responded and transported the patient to a hospital for further treatment," the news release stated. "This incident is under investigation and there is no additional information to share," the release continued. https://people-app.onelink.me/HNIa/kz7l4cuf The NPS said that this is the first known thermal injury at the park this year, adding that a similar case was last reported inSeptember 2024. In the prior incident, a 60-year-old female Yellowstone visitor from New Hampshire was walking off-trail with her husband and leashed dog in a thermal area when she also broke through a thin crust, the NPS said at the time. The victim reportedly suffered second- and third-degree burns to her lower leg, officials added, and was transported by helicopter for further medical treatment. Her husband and dog were unharmed. The NPS encouraged visitors to stay safe in thermal areas of the park, stating that walking on  boardwalks and designated trails offers protection. "Water in hot springs can cause severe or fatal burns, and scalding water underlies most of the thin, breakable crust around hot springs," the NPS said in their release about the injured 17-year-old. Is Jeremy Renner returning to Marvel as Hawkeye? He won't rule it outNew Foto - Is Jeremy Renner returning to Marvel as Hawkeye? He won't rule it out

Years aftera near-death accident, the Marvel universe may be getting backJeremy Renner. Ina new interview with Empire,Renner, 54, who portrayed comic book archer Hawkeye in several superhero blockbusters, revealed he's ready for a return to the big screen. "I'm always happy to be in that world, man," he told the publication. "I love all those guys, I love the character." Hawkeye got his main character treatment in 2021, when Disney+ launched a series starringRennerandHailee Steinfeldas Kate Bishop, his partner in (stopping) crime. The series was largely viewed as an alternative to a standalone movie – a format used for all the remaining Avengers. Jeremy Renner reveals howRobert Downey Jr. cheered him up after snowplow accident "I'm sure we'll end up doing Season 2 (of Hawkeye) and do other things. And I'm happy to do it," he told Empire. "My body's getting ready for something like that. I don't know if anybody wants to see me in tights, but my body will look good in the tights." In 2023, Renner was hospitalized after beingcrushed under a 14,000-pound snowplow, which ran him over as he tried tohelp his nephew with a car issue. He suffered more than 30 broken bones and a collapsed lung. In an interview with ABC News' Diane Sawyer that same year, he revealed he could "see my eye with my other eye." He made an acting return the following year, reviving his role on the Paramount+ series "Mayor of Kingstown." "When I'm walking, I'm focusing on each joint, each step,"he told USA TODAY at the time. "It takes brainpower just to do the basic things we don't typically think about." Renner's hints at a "Hawkeye" second season differ from an interview in May, in which the star told hosts of"The High Performance" podcastthat he had turned down an offer from Marvel for less pay. "They asked me to do Season 2, and they offered me half the money. I'm like, 'Well, it's going to take me twice the amount of work for half the amount of money,'" he said. But now, Renner is implying he's ready to pick the arrow back up. "That's where I'm at," he told Empire. "I'm more than 150% of what I was prior to the incident." Denise Richards alleges ex Aaron Phypers stole laptop, leaked nude photosNew Foto - Denise Richards alleges ex Aaron Phypers stole laptop, leaked nude photos

A judge in California is orderingDenise Richards' soon-to-be-ex-husband Aaron Phypersto return her laptop. After the former"Real Housewives" starpetitioned the court earlier this week, claiming that Phypers had stolen her computer and "disseminated private information, including nude photographs" to "various news organizations," Judge Nicole Bershon demanded he return the device within 48 hours. In a July 29 order, Bershon forbade Phypers from distributing any intimate or sexual image ofRichardswithout her permission, as well as any other "private" or "sensitive information" he may have downloaded from her phone or computer. The order arrives amid a legal battle in which Richards has accused Phypers of years of physical abuse. The Diddy trial details are worsethan anyone expected. Will how we treat victims change? The pair, who were married in 2018, announced their split earlier this month after Phypersfiled for divorce. Since then, Richards requested and was granted a temporary restraining order. The stolen laptop lies at the center of oneRichards'previous claims – that Phypers, over the July 4 weekend, beat her and accessed her private messages. USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Richards for comment. Representatives for Phypers could not be reached at the time of publication. "Aaron stole my laptop and sent private text messages he had stolen from my laptop without my permission. Aaron threatened that I would 'disappear' if I called the police," Richards wrote in her original request for a restraining order. The longtime Hollywood fixture alleged that while she was asleep, Phypers accessed her laptop and downloaded everything from her iCloud account, taking photos of her private text messages and transferring them to his laptop. She also claimed Phypers screamed expletives at her and smashed her over the head while she was on the toilet, demanding that she hand her phone over. In a July 17 statement toPeople magazineandUs Weekly, Phypers denied his estranged wife's claims of physical and emotional abuse, slamming the allegations as "completely false and deeply hurtful." "Let me be unequivocally clear: I have never physically or emotionally abused Denise — or anyone," Phypers told the outlets. "Denise and I, like many couples, have faced our share of challenges, but any suggestion of abuse is categorically untrue. I have always tried to approach our marriage with love, patience and respect." Cassie's harrowing testimony, the myth of 'mutual abuse' and what domestic violence really looks like In the court documents reviewed by USA TODAY, the "Drop Dead Gorgeous" star chronicled a pattern of alleged abuse at the hands of Phypers, writing, "Aaron regularly threatened to 'break my jaw' and would cry, beg me to stay, and promise to get help — none of which ever happened." In the July 16 filing, she alleged that Phypers had caused her "at least three concussions" and told her that he had planted recording devices in her hotel rooms and townhouses. "Throughout our marriage, Aaron threatened to kill me and himself and the police. He owns at least 8 unregistered guns," she attested in the documents. Several photos were attached at the bottom of the filing, one showing Richards with a black eye, which she claims was the result of Phypers' abuse. Richardsargued that she had refrained from reporting the abuse earlier for fear that it would result in more damage. Richard's lawyer, Brett Berman, told USA TODAY on July 21 that she would not be addressing the dispute in a "public forum" but would be continuing to address her ex's alleged abuse in the court of law. "In addition to the repeated abuse perpetrated by Mr. Phypers against Ms. Richards throughout the parties' marriage, Mr. Phypers has continued to harass Ms. Richards since being served with the Temporary Restraining Order by, among other things, disseminating private information from Ms. Richards' cell phone and laptop, which he stole," Berman wrote. "These actions continue to disturb Ms. Richards' peace," he continued. "We have warned Mr. Phypers in writing not to disseminate any information from Ms. Richards' stolen cell phone and laptop but he continues to do so. Ms. Richards will not be responding to Mr. Phypers' false allegations in a public forum and will be addressing Mr. Phypers' abuse in Court." The "Love Actually" star, who was previously married to fellow actorCharlie Sheenfrom 2002 to 2007, has been with Phypers, a businessman, for seven years. He appeared sporadically on Bravo reality series "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" during her stint on the show as well as on her solo Bravo series "Denise Richards and Her Wild Things." The mom of three and Phypers do not share children together, and the two children Richards shares with Sheen were not mentioned in the restraining order, which the judge partially granted. If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233 or text "START" to 88788.
