The Broncos' second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft has been a valuable complementary piece to veteran J.K. Dobbins in the backfield. For the last four weeks, Harvey had served as Denver's starting running back with Dobbins dealing with a serious foot injury that landed him on injured reserve (IR).

Now, Harvey is hurt. Will he miss time with his rib injury? Here's the latest injury update:

<p style=Week 1: Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa (18) makes a catch for a touchdown against the Green Bay Packers during the fourth quarter at Lambeau Field. The play was originally ruled an incomplete pass, but the call was overturned. Despite TeSlaa's effort, the Packers won the game 27-13.

The Raiders won the game, 20-13. Week 1: New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson (3) fumbles the ball on a tackle by Washington Commanders safety Will Harris (3) during the first quarter at Northwest Stadium. It was a rough Giants debut for Wilson (17 of 37 passing for 168 yards) as the Commanders won the game, 21-6. The defending Super Bowl champion Eagles opened the season with a 24-20 victory over their longtime NFC East rivals.

When will RJ Harvey return?

The Broncos have not yet had their first practice of Week 16, so it's unclear for now whether Harvey will miss time. The rookie running back's status at Denver's Wednesday session – either as a non-participant, limited participant or full go at practice – will give a better indication of his Week 16 status.

Harvey sustained a rib injury on his 19th and final carry against the Green Bay Packers on Dec. 14. The Broncos ruled him questionable to return to the game, but Harvey remained sidelined for the rest of the outing.

Denver did add another running back to its active roster on Dec. 15. The Broncos claimed Cody Schrader off of waivers from the Houston Texans, which could indicate that Denver was seeking extra running back depth for Week 16 (and perhaps beyond) in anticipation of Harvey missing time.

Until the Broncos release their first injury report of the week on Dec. 17, Harvey's status for Week 16's game against theJaguarswill remain murky.

RJ Harvey stats

Harvey has been one of the Broncos' biggest breakout players of 2025, as he's managed to lead the team in touchdowns through 15 weeks of his rookie season.

Here's a closer look at all of Harvey's numbers so far this year:

  • Carries: 110

  • Rushing yards: 419

  • Yards per carry: 3.8

  • Rushing touchdowns: 6

  • Targets: 43

  • Receptions: 37

  • Receiving yards: 247

  • Yards per reception: 6.7

  • Receiving touchdowns: 4

Harvey leads the Broncos in rushing touchdowns, is fourth on the team in receptions and sixth in receiving yards.

Broncos RB depth chart

  • RJ Harvey (questionable – ribs)

  • Jaleel McLaughlin

  • Tyler Badie

  • Cody Schrader

  • J.K. Dobbins (IR – foot)

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport reported in November that Dobbins, the Broncos' lead running back, is expected to miss the rest of the season after undergoing foot surgery. Dobbins has been on IR since Nov. 15 and could return in the playoffs.

Schrader is the most recent addition to the Broncos' running backs room, having joined the active roster on Dec. 15 after Denver claimed him on waivers from the Texans. Given his status as a newcomer, he'll most likely be more of a depth piece while McLaughlin and Badie split carries if Harvey misses Week 16.

Carson Beck came to Miami to win a national championship. His chance at that has arrived

It was back in late September, Miami had just beaten Florida, and someone told Hurricanes star Carson Beck that he was just the third quarterback in 30 years to go 3-0 as a starter against the Gators.

Beck smiled politely. He didn't care.

"I'm here for something more important," Beck said.

Nothing more really needed to be said. What Beck — a member of two national championship teams at Georgia — meant was clear. He chose Miami as the transfer destination for his final season of college football because he wanted to compete for another national title.

And, by the slimmest of margins, he and the Hurricanes have that opportunity. Miami, the No. 10 seed in the College Football Playoff, will travel to face seventh-seeded Texas A&M (11-1) in a first-round game on Saturday. The Hurricanes (10-2) were the final at-large team selected for the CFP field; No. 11 Tulane and No. 12 James Madison are ranked below Miami but got in as conference champions.

"This team is excited to compete," Beck said. "We're excited to go out there and show the product and the brand of what 'The U' is and what it stands for and the culture of who we are. We've been preparing our butt off and we're ready to go compete."

Among active players with at least 15 starts, nobody in major college football has a better record than Beck's mark of 34-5. With 10,984 yards so far in his career, he's the leader among active players at the FBS level. Among FBS quarterbacks with more than 50 passes attempted this season, Beck was No. 2 nationally in completion percentage. He connected on 74.7% of his throws; Ohio State's Julian Sayin completed 78.4% for the top spot. And Beck put up those numbers even after a midseason slump of sorts where he threw six interceptions — not all his fault — in losses to Louisville and SMU.

It's sometimes hard to remember that at this time last year, Beck was facing a most uncertain future. He was preparing for major surgery that would basically rebuild his elbow. He had to decide between entering the NFL draft or picking a new school for this year, since it was no secret that he and Georgia would be parting ways. And when he came to Miami, he had to wait months before he could do any throwing.

Over the four-game winning streak that got Miami into the playoff, Beck completed 79.5% of his throws for 1,125 yards, 11 touchdowns and one meaningless interception.

"To see a guy that came in under so much scrutiny and having to recover from surgery and everything else to grow like he's grown — and now come down to the end playing his best football down the stretch, I think it's awesome," Miami coach Mario Cristobal said. "It's awesome to see how he approaches each and every day. He is really, really driven. His practices have been outstanding. Happy for these guys, but happy in the sense that I got to push him more."

Beck will shatter the Miami record for single-season completion percentage (he could go 0 for 39 against Texas A&M and still be ahead of the school-record pace that No. 1 draft pick Cam Ward set last year). He set another school record with 24 consecutive completions. Now, he has a chance to do something that no Hurricanes quarterback since Ken Dorsey did in 2001. He has a chance to lead Miami to a national championship.

"It's crazy how much can happen in a year," Beck said. "Here we are, right? It's been one hell of a year and there's been a lot of adversity that we've had to face as a team that I've had to face individually."

Texas A&M's defense doesn't give up much, ranking 19th nationally in yards allowed (eight spots behind Miami on that list). And Kyle Field, the Aggies' home, is notoriously difficult for visiting teams.

But Beck has seen just about everything, which gives Miami tons of confidence.

"He's been in big games. This is nothing that he hasn't been in," Miami offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson said. "I do think that that matters. And so, his poise is going to be basically contagious through the whole group."

Jaren Jackson Jr. scores 31 points, Cam Spencer adds 27 as Grizzlies beat Clippers 121-103

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 21 of his 31 points in the first half and Cam Spencer added a career-high 27 points as the Memphis Grizzlies beat the Los Angeles Clippers 121-103 on Monday night.

Jaylen Wells scored 16 points and rookie Cedric Coward had 12 as the Grizzlies earned a victory over the Clippers for the third time in less than three weeks. Ja Morant also scored 12 points for Memphis in his second game since returning from a calf injury.

While Morant has returned, Grizzlies center Zach Edey missed his second game of an extended absence because of a left ankle injury. Santi Aldama started at center for the second consecutive game and was held to just three points with two rebounds.

Kawhi Leonard scored 21 points and Kris Dunn added 17 for the Clippers, who have lost 12 of their last 14 games.

James Harden was held to 13 points, while John Collins and Jordan Miller each had 10 for Los Angeles in its eighth straight home loss. The Clippers last won in their own building on Oct. 31.

The Clippers led 64-63 on Leonard's 3-pointer just before the midpoint of the third quarter. The Grizzlies took charge from there, going on a 9-0 run for a 72-64 lead, while taking a 90-76 advantage into the fourth quarter. Wells had four points in the run.

Spencer made four 3-pointers in less than six minutes of the fourth quarter and made a career high seven shots from long range on 10 attempts.

Jackson scored 20 points for the first time in six games, after he averaged 10.2 points over the previous five contests while shooting 42.6%. He was 13 of 18 (72.2%) from the floor.

Cooper Flagg becomes youngest player to score 42 points but laments Mavericks' overtime loss to Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Cooper Flagg scored the most points by an 18-year-old in NBA history, but he couldn't enjoy the accomplishment because it came in a loss.

Flagg had 42 points — topping the previous mark of 37 set by LeBron James on Dec. 13, 2003 — in a140-133 loss to the Utah Jazzon Monday night.

"Obviously we didn't win. So it's tough for me to want to be happy, or any of that, but obviously it's a success," said Flagg, who had a bag of ice on his ankle after rolling it at the end of regulation.

Flagg also became just the fifth rookie to record 40 points, five rebounds and five assists in the last 15 years as he finished with seven board and six assists.

"The more time he spends on the floor, the more he sees, the better he gets. He displayed it all tonight," Dallas coach Jason Kidd said.

Flagg has been playing his best basketball the past few weeks as the No. 1 overall draft pick has averaged 25.7 points in the last seven games. He's also playing aggressive enough to get to the line and went 15 for 20 against Utah.

"It's come a long way from the start of the season, so I'm proud of that fourth quarter," Flagg said. "It's a new game ... but I am getting more and more comfortable ... and just settling in, honestly, just being myself and letting the game come to me."

He scored 12 points in the fourth quarter and made a savvy play to get the game into overtime when he missed a free throw on purpose with such a big carom that teammate Max Christie got the rebound with 3.9 seconds remaining and was fouled.

With Anthony Davis out and Dallas missing several other teammates to injuries, this game may be a harbinger of things to come as Flagg becomes a centerpiece of the Mavericks' offense.

"We were going to Coop. He was killing them the whole game, so they finally tried to double him." P.J. Washington said. "It doesn't surprise me at all. I know exactly what he's capable of. He's a special player so there will be a lot more to come."

Flagg also tied Mark Aguirre for the most points by a rookie in Mavs history as he begins to make his mark on the franchise. But he couldn't stop thinking of what he could have done to get the win despite the throbbing ankle. The Jazz made a late 11-0 run and then dominated in overtime as Flagg didn't score a basket in the extra period.

"I gotta be better. I had a couple of dumb turnovers, missed a couple easy ones, but I gotta be better, executing down the stretch like that," Flagg said.

Setting records might be nice but Flagg feels it just means he's consistently improving and that's been his goal all season.

"I'm not really focused on a lot of that stuff (the records). I'm more just focused on being present, day to day, and trying to get better and and getting our team as many wins as we can," Flagg said.

No. 23 Florida hopes to get on track hosting Saint Francis

Through 10 nonconference games, the No. 23 Florida Gators have faced scrutiny over their backcourt play, but guard Xaivian Lee has learned from the first part of the season and turned his game around.

The Gators and the former Princeton player will start the first of their final trio of non-Southeastern Conference games Wednesday night against the Saint Francis (PA) Red Flash of the Northeast Conference in Gainesville, Fla.

Lee has been a large part of the backcourt's rebound from early poor play, which led to losses against then-No. 1 Arizona and unranked TCU.

Florida (6-4) lost game-changing guards Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin and Will Richard -- the top three scorers -- off last season's national championship-winning squad, and Lee (Princeton) and fellow backcourt mate Boogie Fland (Arkansas) were crucial pieces coach Todd Golden brought in to fill the scoring ledger.

It started slowly for Lee, a 6-foot-4 Toronto native who played three seasons for the Ivy League's Tigers.

An up-tempo, driving, streaky shooter, Lee shot just 22 percent (13 of 59) from the field in his first six games through the Gators' 84-80 loss to TCU on Nov. 27. Worse yet, he made just seven of 42 3-pointers (16.7 percent).

But Lee, who averages 11 points per outing, is scoring 16.8 over the past four contests in which the Gators have gone 2-2 with defeats against No. 4 Duke and No. 5 UConn.

"I try to always keep my confidence on a hundred (percent) no matter what, but it was definitely tested early in the season, but I think that's going to make me stronger and us better as a team, (especially) when we get down to SEC play," said Lee, who also averages five rebounds. "We're not where we want to be right now, but I think we're building to where we can be."

Three other Gators score more than Lee: Thomas Haugh (18.6), Alex Condon (13.9) and Fland (12).

Rueben Chinyelu posts 9.8 points and 10.7 boards.

In taking the court against Florida, Saint Francis (2-9) will be facing a defending national champion for the first time ever. The school also played 2019 national champion Virginia in 2021, the season after COVID claimed the 2020 campaign and produced no title-winning team.

Before the season opened, coach Luke McConnell said a rigorous early schedule would be beneficial when his club starts NEC action by hosting Le Moyne on Jan. 2.

"We have always believed in putting together a tough and challenging nonconference schedule," McConnell said. "Our group looks forward to the challenge and I am excited to compete with them against some high-level competition from all around the country. Our guys will be well prepared as we head into NEC play."

The road has been tough so far for the Red Flash.

They opened by being pounded by Oklahoma and TCU by 36 points and 41, respectively, setting the tone for a frustrating start.

In their most recent outing Sunday, they lost 95-67 at Temple, a second straight setback and their third in the past five contests.

Over 11 games, senior Skylar Wicks has been the high scorer on six occasions and led in rebounding eight times. The guard from Jersey City, N.J., is averaging 18.8 points per game and 7.8 rebounds.
