The Wolverines (20-3, 11-1 Big Ten) went on a 15-6 run to take a nine-point lead early in the fourth quarter and turned what was a closely contested game into a double-digit victory.

Michigan has won a school-record nine straight Big Ten games.

That streak will be put to a test Sunday at home against UCLA, the second-ranked team in The Associated Presswomen's college basketball poll.

Michigan has been a top-10 team for a program-record 11 consecutive weeks. The Wolverines have reached the 20-win mark for the 20th time, including 12 seasons with coachKim Barnes Arico.

The Cornhuskers (16-7, 5-7) fell to 0-6 against AP Top 25 teams this season.

Nebraska's Britt Prince and Amiah Hargrove scored 16 each and Petra Bozan added 12 points.

The Huskers were competitive for two-plus quarters.

They led 25-24 after an opening quarter with eight lead changes and four ties. The Wolverines turned it over six times in the first quarter and gave it up on the first possession of the second quarter before taking better care of the ball and going on a 7-0 run to take a six-point lead.

Nebraska closed the first half with eight points in 1:01 to take a 44-42 lead and went ahead by six points early in the third quarter.

Michigan surged ahead by making 6 of 8 shots to end the third, taking a 69-64 lead on Swords' third 3-pointer.

Ashley Sofilkanich finished with nine points and 13 rebounds for the Wolverines.

Nebraska: Host Maryland on Saturday.

Michigan: Hosts No. 2 UCLA on Sunday.

In addition to the 28-year-old Ball, the Cavaliers are also sending their 2028 and 2032 second-round picks to the Jazz,according to NBA insider Jake Fischer.

As part of the trade, the Jazz are shipping center Jock Landale off to the Atlanta Hawks for cash considerations, permultiplereports.

Trading Ball frees Cleveland of his $10 million salary,according to The Athletic.

This past summer,Ball landed with the Cavs, then his fourth team since going No. 2 overall out of UCLA in the 2017 NBA Draft. He had previously played for the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans and Chicago Bulls, the last of whom traded him to Cleveland for wing Isaac Okoro.

At the time, Cleveland was looking to reinforce its backcourt followingthe free-agency departure of Ty Jerome. However, Ball hasn't made the impact the Cavaliers imagined.

He's shooting a meager 30.1% from the field this season, including a ghastly 27.2% from deep. His 4.6 points per game are, by far, a career low.

Plus, Ball is averaging just 3.9 assists per game, his second fewest since reaching the league. He played 20.8 minutes per contest in his 35 outings with the Cavs.

In October 2024, Ball returned to the court for his first game in more than 1,000 daysafter missing 2 1/2 seasons because of an array of knee injuries.

Since then, he's yet to score more than 18 points in a game.

The 18-year-old Penn State freshman forward was reportedly at a downtown State College, Pennsylvania, bar with the team and friends and family following theNittany Lions' outdoor game at Beaver Stadium against Michigan State. It's unknown how the altercation began, but McKenna reportedly broke the jaw of an unidentified individual.

According to thePennsylvania court docket, McKenna is awaiting a preliminary hearing on the matter.

The Penn State athletic department released the following statement to Onward State a few hours after the arrest was reported:

"We are aware that charges have been filed; however, as this is an ongoing legal matter, we will not have any further comment."

In July, McKenna announced that he would be attending Penn State following three seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League, one of three leagues that makes up the Canadian Hockey League. The move was made possible after theNCAA's ruling that allowed CHL players to play collegiately.

Through 24 games this season, McKenna has 11 goals and 32 points for the Nittany Lions, who are in third place in the Big Ten. He was recently ranked as theNo. 1 North American skater by NHL Central Scoutingahead of June's NHL draft.

NBA insider Michael Scottoreportsthat reigning MVPShai Gilgeous-Alexanderof theOklahoma City Thundersuffered an abdominal strain duringlast night's gameagainst theOrlando Magic. He is expected to be out through at least the All-Star break.

SGA had been selected as an All-Star Game starter. 2026 would have marked his fourth consecutive All-Star Game appearance.

When did SGA suffer his injury?

Gilgeous-Alexander suffered his abdominal injury during Oklahoma City's128-92win against the Magic on Feb. 3.

Despite the injury, SGA still managed 20 points and nine assists, extending his streak of consecutive 20-point games to 121 games. He played 28 minutes in the contest, scoring his final point with just over two minutes remaining in the game.

When will SGA return?

SGA will miss at least five games, and will be re-evaluated following the All-Star break. Oklahoma City's first game after the break will be on Feb. 20 at home against theBrooklyn Nets.

The trade itself is slightly complicated.

On Wednesday, the Oklahoma City Thunder shipped out Ousmane Dieng to the Hornets for Mason Plumlee. Dieng was then re-routed to Chicago, leading to this total trade:

Coby White and Mike Conley Jr. went to Charlotte for Collin Sexton, Dieng, and three second-round selections.

Let's get into the trade-grade game.

Charlotte Hornets: B+

This up-and-coming team just got a heavy upgrade in White, who is especially solid moving off the ball, and it did so without relinquishing much.

The acquisition of White is Charlotte's pre-agency play, as it can now enter the summer with the hope of re-signing the high-scoring guard, who now returns to his home state.

White can start or come off the bench, providing the team with scoring, some playmaking and improved defense. He's essentially a better version of Sexton, which has to be considered a win.

Chicago Bulls: C

Look, we can talk about how the Bulls at least got something out of this deal, and that's all fine and well. But when you consider White had enormous value a year ago and the Bulls failed to pull the trigger, this is what happens.

The Bulls simply waited too long, again, which is underlined thoroughly by this post from Stephen Noh:

We shouldn't celebrate that the Bulls finally got off their butts to act on the Coby White situation, when they should have done it so long ago.

Jones, 28, is in his first season with the Penguins. The club placed him on injured reserve in late October with a foot injury, then assigned him to their American Hockey League affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. He played one game for Wilkes-Barre in January before sustaining an upper-body injury.

Jones said through a statement released by the NHL Players Association that he believes he was exposed to a contaminated substance while undergoing exosome therapy from an outside provider.

"While I did not use the prohibited substance intentionally or for performance enhancement, I understand that players are responsible for everything that enters their body and accept the discipline imposed by the program," Jones said. "I'm sorry to have let down my teammates, the Penguins organization, and our fans."

Jones, the younger brother of Panthers defenseman Seth Jones, had one point in seven games with the Penguins in October after signing a two-year deal with Pittsburgh last summer.

Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas said the club "appreciates" Jones' transparency and that Jones will follow all NHL and NHLPA protocols during the suspension. Dubas added that Jones has the "full support" of the organization.

The defending champion India squadwill be in action on opening day, taking on the U.S. team at Mumbai. Sri Lanka will play its first game against Ireland in Colombo on Sunday.

The tournament will feature 20 teams divided into four groups of five. The group stage will run until Feb. 20. The playoffs will start with the Super Eights stage from Feb. 21-March 1, followed by semifinals on March 4 and 5 and the championship decider on March 8.

No host nation has ever won the men's T20 World Cup, nor has any team lifted the trophy three times (West Indies and England are also two-time champions) — India is aiming to change history on both counts. Here's what to know:

India's title defense

India won the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007 in South Africa and then had to wait another 17 years to lift the trophy again. That drought ended in 2024, when Rohit Sharma led his squad to victory over the Proteas in the final at Barbados.

India's longtime stars Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja retired from the T20 format in international cricket following that victory. Now, under Suryakumar Yadav, the defending champions are chasing a repeat performance on home soil.

India has won every T20 series it has contested in the last two years, including victories against South Africa and Australia away from home, as well as theAsia Cuplast year in the United Arab Emirates.

India is placed in Group A with the United States, Namibia, Netherlands and archrival Pakistan. There's been adoubt over the high profile India-Pakistan contest– a fixture highlight in International Cricket Council tournaments – which is scheduled for Feb. 15 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The Pakistan government has refused permission for its national team to play against India in response to the ICC's refusal to accommodateBangladesh's request for venue changes. The result wasScotland replacing Bangladesh in the tournament.

There's a lengthy history of political tension overshadowing high profile cricket between the neighboring countries.

If Pakistan forfeits the game, it gives India a relatively trouble-free pathway to the playoff stage.

Sri Lanka's home advantage

Since the 2024 T20 World Cup, Sri Lanka has played 32 T20s and lost about half of them. Even on home soil, it has only beaten West Indies and alsolost to England in the build-upto this tournament.

Yet there's history of Sri Lanka lifting for the big limited-overs tournaments and, for starters, it helps to be playing all games in familiar conditions either at Colombo or Pallekele.

The 2014 champions are placed in Group B with Ireland, Oman, Zimbabwe and 2021 champions Australia.

Getting out of this group is the first objective, but the real challenge will begin afterward. In the second round, Sri Lanka could face Pakistan, New Zealand and England — it has won only five of 16 games against these three teams since 2024.

Sri Lanka will count on spinners Wanindu Hasranga and Maheesh Theekshana to bolster its chances, with Matheesha Pathirana leading the pace attack. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis will have to carry much of the batting load.

Between 2009 and 2014, Sri Lanka reached three T20 World Cup finals, finally winning the title in the last of those with a victory over India in Dhaka. It was the final T20 game for star players Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardena, and Sri Lanka is yet to scale similar lofty heights again.

The Favorites

Ranked No. 1 in the ICC T20 rankings, India is the obvious favorite for the title.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir may not have had much success recently in the test or one-day international formats, but his T20 plans have mostly all worked out well.

Abhishek Sharma has become a fan favorite in the absence of Sharma and Kohli. The big-hitting opener is already filling stadiums as fans line up to watch his skills. The No. 1-ranked T20 batter will be key to India's ambitions for the title.

"He's a star. He can be the leading run-scorer and potentially player of the tournament," analyst and former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting said on the ICC Review podcast.

"If he does, that makes India even harder to beat. If he doesn't, they are as vulnerable as anybody else."

Skipper Yadav also regained form in the recent series against New Zealand, while Ishan Kishan has provided fresh impetus to the batting at No. 3. In the bowling department, Harshit Rana is a shoe-in with his all-round skills, while mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy – also the No. 1-ranked T20 bowler – will be hard to handle on home pitches.

T20 veterans Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya – who both played crucial roles in India's grand final win at Barbados – will once again play important roles for India. Potentially, it could be Bumrah's last T20 World Cup.
