According to Fierro's wife, Jessica, the group was dancing when gunshots began to fire throughout the club. She told NBC News: ...My husband took the gunman down.... ...My husband knocked the guns out of his hands and took the pistol and literally started hitting the guy with it.... The shooter reportedly had an AR-15-style rifle, which Fierro managed to get from his hands and subdue him. Fiero's wife also told the outlet that he'd completed four tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.
